چکیده
Soil heavy metal pollution is widespread and has severe adverse effects on soil organisms. Earthworms are the major organisms which perform several beneficial ecological functions butare vulnerable to damage from of soil. The present study was conducted evaluate potential toxicity arsenic (As) chromium (Cr) biochemical response earthworm, Eisenia fetida. Following exposure various sub-lethal concentrations ofAs (34, 68, 102 136 mg/kg) Cr(26, 51, 77 mg/kg ) for 28 days, levels markers, including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), Glutathione-S-transferase (GST) malondialdehyde (MDA) content were assessed. results showed that both metals significantly (p<0.05) impacted antioxidant enzyme activities MDA during entire period. Compared with control, SOD, CAT, POD GST increased by (6.21-23.23, 6.32-18.6, 15.87-34.18 0.84-5.45% respectively) at14th day, but after prolonged exposure, these decreased (9.58-38.13, 10.09-30.03, 19.05-53.16 2.26-9.36% at 28th day. contents significant increase (17.84-45.59%) in all groups Therefore, it can be concluded antioxidants play a direct role adaptive E. fetida survival contaminated This used as an important biomarker assess ecosystems.

Toxicity and bioaccumulation of ethofumesate enantiomers in earthworm Eisenia fetida.
Earthworms represent an important food source for many vertebrates and as a result, predators may encounter toxic effects via the food chain from consumption of contaminated worms. Therefore, including an assessment of xenobiotic to worms in risk assessment procedures is advisable. Here we studied the acute toxicity, bioaccumulation and elimination of ethofumesate enantiomers in earthworm, Eise...
متن کاملSubacute toxicity of copper and glyphosate and their interaction to earthworm (Eisenia fetida).
Glyphosate (GPS) and copper (Cu) are common pollutants in soils, and commonly co-exist. Due to the chemical structure of GPS, it can form complexes of heavy metals and interface their bioavailability in soil environment. In order to explore the interactions between GPS and Cu, subacute toxicity tests of Cu and GPS on soil invertebrate earthworms (Eisenia fetida) were conducted. The relative wei...
متن کاملComparative acute toxicity of twenty-four insecticides to earthworm, Eisenia fetida.
In this study, we used two different types of bioassay, a contact filter paper toxicity bioassay and a soil toxicity bioassay, to compare the acute toxicity of twenty-four insecticides belonging to six chemical categories on earthworm species, Eisenia fetida. Results of the contact filter paper toxicity bioassay indicated that neonicotinoids were super toxic to E. fetida (48 h-LC(50) value rang...
متن کاملGlycosylated trypsin-like proteases from earthworm Eisenia fetida.
Although groups of earthworm proteases have been found by several laboratories, it is still unclear how many of the isolated trypsin-like fibrinolytic enzymes are in glycosylated form. Here, eight glycosylated fibrinolytic proteases (EfP-0-1, EfP-0-2, EfP-I-1, EfP-I-2, EfP-II-1, EfP-II-2, EfP-III-1 and EfP-III-2) were isolated from an earthworm species (Eisenia fetida) through a stepwise-purifi...
متن کاملAnnotation of nerve cord transcriptome in earthworm Eisenia fetida
In annelid worms, the nerve cord serves as a crucial organ to control the sensory and behavioral physiology. The inadequate genome resource of earthworms has prioritized the comprehensive analysis of their transcriptome dataset to monitor the genes express in the nerve cord and predict their role in the neurotransmission and sensory perception of the species. The present study focuses on identi...
